Abstract:
|
In 1996 David Moore gave a JSM talk entitled "Bayes for Beginners: Some Reasons to Hesitate" in which he argued against teaching Bayesian methods in a first course. His first reason to hesitate was that Bayesian methods were rarely used in practice. Times have changed - a lot. With Markov chain Monte Carlo available, Bayesian applications have become widely used. It is time for the statistics education community to get on board.
