Little better enhances a statistical career than to partner in rewarding collaborations. At their best, collaborations stimulate learning and thinking, generate important problems needing statistical development, offer opportunity for one's statistical science to have high impact in subject area science or societal betterment, and is fun! When they go wrong, time lost, energy spent, and frustration can be substantial costs.
This presentation offers recommendations for finding-and keeping-good collaborations. Strategies for becoming connected to these, engaging to highest reward and impact, maintaining a right sized portfolio, managing challenges, and promoting collaborations' long term success are among topics discussed. The presenter has enjoyed more than 25 years of productive collaboration in the field of aging, and been privileged to pursue a parallel career therein. She also brings to the session the perspective of a Biostatistics Department Chair.
