Keywords: Mixtures, Formulations, Process Variables, John Cornell, Screening
Abstract:

John Cornell spent his professional career extending our knowledge of the design and analysis of mixture experiments. During his career he was everywhere, always debating and promoting the field in every way and application possible. His contributions included books, monographs, articles, presentations and short courses. His research was closely linked to real world problems with a solid technical foundation. He was influenced by John Gorman and he in turn influenced leaders in the field including Greg Piepel and Wendell Smith. He was generous with his recognitions of the contributions of others. This presentation will focus on the speaker's reminisces of his interactions with John over more than 35 years. The discussion will also focus on two areas in which John's work laid the foundation for important advances including concepts and designs for screening experiments for mixtures, the calculation and use of component effects and experiments involving mixture components and process variables.
