Abstract:
|
Alpha spending functions have become a very popular approach in clinical trials where several interim analyses are planned. This presentation will introduce an adaptive alpha spending approach when the interim analysis timings are pre-determined. The advantage of the proposed approach is that one can adjust the alpha to be spent at the next interim analysis based on the observed results at the current interim analysis: one can spend more next time if observed results are promising, or less otherwise, or even can skip the next interim analysis by spending zero to wait longer for the intervention takes effect.
