Abstract:
|
This topic will address various aspects that should be considered when building a biostatistics business model within a Nursing School. Such considerations will include: working under a percent-effort or fee-for-service model, or a combination of the two; the title and level of the role; the reporting structure of the position(s); whether the position is supported with hard or soft funds; formal teaching requirements, including research residencies and independent studies; doctoral student consultation needs; doctoral committee involvement; data management expectations; time distribution (teaching, grant writing, grant work, service, independent research); independent research; the alignment of promotion guidelines with the roles/responsibilities of the position; the need to disseminate effective working practices, including early consultation in the research process, information needed for power analyses, discussions around authorship, etc.; guidelines related to minimum percent effort on grant proposals, lead time expectations for grants, etc; and standard operating procedures.
