Statistics Posters from Nevada Recognized Nationally!!

From Rebecca Nichols, Director of Education, American Statistical Association:

Is Fast Food Fast? has won 1st place in the American Statistical Association’s national poster competition in the grade 7-9 category. Congratulations to Aryaman Bisen and to advisor Denise Romonoski of Hyde Park Middle School, Las Vegas. First place receives a prize of $300, a plaque and the school receives a plaque. Advisor and student also receive TI-84 Graphing Calculators.

The Fire That Changed America Forever has won 2nd place in the American Statistical Association's national poster competition in the grade 7-9 category. Congratulations to Jocelyn Lotterhos and to advisor Susan Kolodny of Southern Highlands Preparatory Academy, Las Vegas. Second place receives a prize of $200 and a plaque.

Tumble Trouble has won 3rd place in the American Statistical Association's national poster competition in the grade 4-6 category. Congratulations to Suebin Hur and to advisor Judy Kraus of Hyde Park Middle School, Las Vegas. Third place receives a prize of $100 and a plaque.

Surgeon Statistic: Where Did Your Money Go? has won honorable mention in the American Statistical Association's national poster competition in the grade 4-6 category. Congratulations to Linh Pham and Ha Pham and to advisor Judy Kraus of Hyde Park Middle School, Las Vegas. Honorable mention receives a plaque.

Student names and pictures of the winning posters will be featured in the August issue of Amstat News and on the ASA website at http://www.amstat.org/education/posterprojects/index.cfm.

Congratulations to our national winners and their advisors. Thank you to all students and teachers that participated in this year’s K–12 Statistics Poster Competition.

This year, a total of 212 posters were judged and 382 students from 19 schools across Nevada participated in the competition. Congratulations to all our winners! Thank you to everyone who supported this year's event!
