The Albuquerque Chapter of the American Statistical Association (ACASA) serves Northern New Mexico. The Chapter holds yearly meetings, which bring together those who are interested in statistics in the region. If you are interested in joining the Chapter, please contact any of the Chapter officers or visit the American Statistical association membership web site.  ACASA is affiliated with Mu Sigma Rho, the national honorary society for statistics (ACASA/MSR).

The World of Statistics ACASA supports the World of Statistics, a global network of more than 2,350 organizations committed to:
  • Increasing public awareness of the power and impact of statistics on all aspects of society
  • Nurturing statistics as a profession, especially among young people
  • Promoting creativity and development in the sciences of probability and statistics


Mark your calendars - 2017 annual meeting

We're pleased to invite you to our annual chapter meeting. This will be held Friday, April 28, 2017 at the La Fonda on the Plaza. Please visit 123Signup and click "Register" at the top of the page to reserve your place at the meeting. The early registration rate ($85 for members (select "General" in 123Signup), $25 for students) is available only until April 1, 2017.

We will have a full day session with two guest speakers, Dr. Jessica Uts from UC-Irvine and Dr. Mike West from Duke in the morning, a panel discussion over lunch (there will be boxed lunches provided.) In the afternoon, there will be technical talks by chapter members, preceded by brief official meeting for the Albuquerque chapter at which we will elect officers and announce awards. Coffee and snacks will be provided in the morning, and there will be boxed lunches provided as part of the registration fee.

9:00 a.m. Dr. Jessica Utts, UC-Irvine, P-values: Uses, misuses, and the ASA statement about them.
10:50 a.m. Dr. Mike West, Duke University, Bayesian Predictive Synthesis.

The Lee Award
This annual award was established in 2011 by Dr. Ji-Hyun Lee in memory of her parents. This prize was awarded at the Florida Chapter of the American Statistical Association's annual meeting from 2011 to 2014 and starting from 2015 it's awarded at the Albuquerque Chapter of the American Statistical Association's annual meeting. The organizers of the Chapter's annual meeting select the winner based on their own selection criteria. Preference is given to student speakers. The award includes a cash prize of $100.00. Dr. Lee is a Professor of Biostatistics at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center and Director of its Biostatistics Shared Resources. She currently serves as the 2017 President of the Caucus for Women in Statistics (cwstat.org) and the vice president of District 6 for the ASA.
